CS2 skins
Skin gambling
Also known as: Betting with skins
Skin gambling means using video-game skins (predominantly CS2) as tokens of value in gambling activities: esports betting, roulette, blackjack, coinflip, jackpot, crash and other variants. Skins are deposited on a platform and converted into a virtual balance; winnings can be withdrawn as other skins or sold for real money. Regulatory classification varies radically by jurisdiction.
Context
Skin gambling exploded in 2015–2016 around the CS:GO ecosystem, forcing Valve to intervene against the most aggressive platforms through Steam Trading API restrictions. The industry has since changed: many platforms hold real-money gambling licences (Curaçao, Malta, etc.), while others operate as pure P2P marketplaces outside the “gambling” classification. Regulators such as the UK Gambling Commission treat skin gambling as gambling when prizes can be exchanged for real money.
How we apply it at SocialPro
SocialPro explicitly distinguishes P2P marketplaces (no gambling) from skin-gambling platforms in the brief, applying the full iGaming protocol — DGOJ in Spain and LATAM equivalents — to the latter.
