CS2 skins

Trade-up

Also known as: Trade-ups, Trade-Up Contract, Exchange contract

A trade-up is the official CS2 mechanism in which a player submits ten skins of the same rarity (for example, “Mil Spec”) to receive a random skin from the next rarity tier (“Restricted”). The result follows the public probabilities of the collections containing the submitted skins. It is the only native way to “increase rarity” without buying directly on the market and has its own optimisable economy.

Context

Trade-ups are mathematical: entire communities and calculators identify combinations of cheap skins of one rarity that maximise the expected value of the higher-rarity result. Some are statistically profitable; most are not. Alongside Valve’s official trade-up, many external platforms offer versions with different inventories and probabilities, which may or may not fall under gambling regulation depending on jurisdiction.

How we apply it at SocialPro

Trade-up campaigns are handled operationally like the rest of the skins ecosystem: the creator performs trade-ups live using a unique platform code, with reporting from the partner dashboard.
