DGOJ

Also known as: Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego

The DGOJ (Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego) is the body within Spain’s Ministry of Consumer Affairs that regulates, authorises and supervises online gambling in Spain. It issues the licences operators need to offer casino, sportsbook, poker or bingo to the Spanish market, publishes quarterly aggregate GGR by vertical and sanctions advertising breaches. No legal iGaming operation in Spain can take place without a current DGOJ licence.

Context

The DGOJ was established under Gambling Regulation Law 13/2011, which created Spain’s legal framework for online gambling. Its remit covers not only operators but also advertising and sponsorship: Royal Decree 958/2020 on commercial communications for gambling activities establishes a 01:00–05:00 window for most real-money gambling advertising, prohibits welcome bonuses in creatives and limits the use of public figures and active athletes as operator ambassadors.

How we apply it at SocialPro

SocialPro activates iGaming campaigns in Spain only with operators that demonstrate a current DGOJ licence for the specific product (casino, sportsbook, poker), applying the RD 958/2020 protocol to every sponsored placement.
